Beech Steamed

European Beech’s heartwood is very pale pink-brown. It is common practice to steam the timber which turns it to a reddish-brown. Beech has a straight grain and fine, even texture.

Usage

Turns well, glues readily, takes stains and polish satisfactorily. It is common to steam beech in its green condition which changes its colour permanently to pink or light red.
