Hemlock

Tsuga heterophylla

Similar properties to those of Douglas Fir. Not quite as strong or decorative as Douglas Fir. Hemlock dries exceptionally well and nails firmly without splitting. The species is classified as non-durable. Good finishing properties. Takes stain, paint, polish and varnish.

Uses: Construction, interior and exterior joinery.
